Response to Intervention (RTI)

What is RTI?

Response to Intervention (RTI) is a multi-tier approach to the early identification and support of students with learning and behavior needs.

The RTI process begins with high-quality instruction and universal screening of all children in the general education classroom. Struggling learners are provided with interventions at increasing levels of intensity to accelerate their rate of learning.

Support Tiers

tier 1

Core Instruction + Universal Supports

Core academic and behavior instruction intentionally designed and differentiated to target needs of all students in all settings

tier 2

Core Instruction + Supplemental Intervention & Supports

Additional time to learn core academic standards and essential behavior through the use of targeted instruction and supplemental supports within the classroom setting. For students who do not adequately progress in core instruction (Tier 1) alone.

tier 3

Core Instruction + Intensive Individual or Small Group Intervention & Supports

Intensive intervention in universal or foundational skills in the areas of reading, writing, number sense, English language, behavior, & social and emotional health.
