    January 2020: Lawndale Counts!

The U.S. Constitution includes a provision that, every 10 years, the U.S. Census counts ALL people living in the United States. The census count determines allocations of resources for our community, such as schools, roads, hospitals and healthcare. It also determines the number of seats in the House of Representatives for each state.  For these reasons, a complete count of every single person living in Lawndale will reap tremendous benefits for our community.

The U.S. Census Bureau representatives have identified school personnel as ‘trusted messengers’ to provide outreach to the community to ensure a complete count.  The Lawndale Elementary School District Board of Trustees has adopted a resolution in support of ensuring a complete count of our community. At LESD, we are committed to ensuring that “Lawndale Counts!”

We will host two informational sessions at our district office that will answer any questions that you may have about the census. You are invited to attend our next informational session.
