Preschool Curricula

 

Between the ages of 3 and 5, children have an innate curiosity to explore, learn, and absorb knowledge. Our preschool program not only strengthens and encourages our students’ development but also of their families as a whole. Children will be offered a wide range of experiences and an opportunity to develop social, emotional, and cognitive skills. Parents or guardians will be encouraged to become involved in the educational process of their child through a variety of opportunities.

HighScope Curriculum

HighScope is the research-based educational approach used in the preschool classroom. It focuses on each child's social, emotional, intellectual, and physical development by offering concrete, hands-on activities for the child to explore. High/Scope supports and encourages the development of independence, responsibility, and confidence, all of which are imperative for the child's success in school. Skills are developed through active involvement with people, materials, events, and ideas.

 

"Growing Readers" Early Literacy Curriculum

Engages young children in four key areas of early literacy learning:

  • Comprehension
  • Phonological awareness
  • Alphabetic principle
  • Concepts about print

The program focuses on these four aspects of early literacy because of the strong evidence that young children's knowledge of these concepts is a solid predictor of their reading achievement in later years. 

 

"Numbers Plus" Early Math curriculum

Actively engages young children with materials and ideas, Numbers Plus builds on the latest knowledge from research and practice about early mathematics learning and how adults support it. Aligned with the standards of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, the activities in Numbers Plus are divided into five content areas:

  • Number Sense and Operations
  • Geometry
  • Measurement
  • Algebra
  • Data Analysis
